October, 2009

Dear BC Winter Club Members:

Thank you for choosing to be part of the BC Winter Club for the 2009-2010 skating season. We are in for a busy and fun year!

The 2009-2010 BC Winter Club Board and Officers were elected in June, 2009. Our Board and Officers include Club members from Binghamton, Ithaca and surrounding areas. It is our hope to reestablish the BC Winter Club as a premier skating club in our area. We have several community events scheduled for this year and hope that you all choose to participate in our club’s activities.

For this skating season, the BC Winter Club has purchased ice time once again from the Broome County Memorial Arena, home of the Binghamton Senators. Our first Basic Skills session will be a 6-week session and is set to begin on Sunday, November 1, 2009 and will continue on Sunday afternoons from 3-4pm. If you haven’t signed up yet, please email us at learn.to.skate@bcwinterclub.org to register or obtain information. This session is filling up fast, so register soon!

Our first community event is scheduled for Sunday, October 25th. Our Club will host an Open Skate session from 2:30 – 4pm at that Broome County Arena. The cost will be $10 per skater, with $5 being donated to the Discovery Center’s Story Garden to help them rebuild after last month’s vandalism. A limited number of skate rentals will be available. If you have registered for our Learn To Skate program, consider using this date to come and get fitted for your skates and to get your “ice feet” again for the season.

We are also hosting a session for Boy/Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Brownies to earn their skating badges in December and we will also perform at a Binghamton Senators’ hockey game in February! Watch our website for complete details. If you are interested in skating in the exhibition and are an advanced level skater, please contact Michele Mapes at Secretary@bcwinterclub.org.

So lace up those skates and join us on the ice for a great season!!!
